by ManojPosted on January 4, 2018 Stories
While I was going through YouTube videos, a video entitled “My Year 2016” by Sam Kolder caught my attention. After watching the video I was inspired to share my experience as well. And here it is; My Year 2017! A huge thanks to Sam Kolder for the inspiration. 🙂
The Year 2017: Major Global events!!!
-
- Beginning of Trump Era!
The Year 2017 began with Donald Trump winning the presidential election in the USA.

-
- Millions of people worldwide joined the Women’s March in response to the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States. 420 marches were reported in the U.S. and 168 in other countries, becoming the largest single-day protest in American history and the largest worldwide protest in recent history.

- The Weinstein scandal (#Metoo Campaign)

- Death of Chester Bennington.
Linkin Park was the reason why I started listening to English songs and the death of Chester Bennington was hard to comprehend. A great singer, a talented artist, an icon of Linkin Park as well as Rock Music, and then he passed away. July 20 will be remembered as one of the darkest days not just for Linkin Park, but for Rock Music as well. RIP Bennington!

- In March, Zimbabwe put a ban on the beating of all children in the country.
Less violence = a better world!

- North Korea’s move against the World.
Successive U.S. presidents have insisted that they would prevent North Korea from acquiring nuclear weapons. They backed that up by offering carrots, imposing sanctions, and threatening military action. North Korea hasn’t listened. In early September, North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test. - Catalonia’s Independence

The Year 2017: Major Happenings of Nepal!
Nepal Election: Local and state/provincial election; Election was the major highlight of the year 2017 in Nepal. Many things were overlooked because of the elections held in different phases. Also, there was a number of heartbreaking incidents such as flooding in the southern part of Nepal i.e. Terai belt.
A movie song Kutu ma Kutu revolutionized the YouTube scene. It’s viewed more than 41 millions times on YouTube which is more than the total population of Nepal. If you’ve not watched the video, here’s the link; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwIWfvW3SD8. Similarly, a lot of quality Nepali movie songs are on the rise. In the year 2017, YouTubers have grown exponentially with their followers as well as with quality. Some of them whom I follow regularly are Sisan Baniya, Girish Khatiwada, Random Nepali among many others.
My Year 2017; reviewing and reflections!
Nevertheless, 365 is a big number. A lot happened in my life during these numbers. Most of the times were bliss while some of them were emotionally breaking. I promised myself to make the best out of 2017. I could fulfill some of the promises I made and so happy with those accomplishments. Sadly, some of the vows went in vain. My bad!!!
Happiness Jar!!!
Starting happiness jar was one of the best decisions I took in 2017. Happiness jar is all about noting down all the happy moments that occurred during the week. I read those happy moments at the end of the year 2017 and I was left spellbound. I’m surely continuing this in the year 2018 as well.

Health

Professional growth
The year 2017 was the year of massive growth. Here are some the major highlights:
-
- The intensive travels during the year were possible through my work in Saathi Sanga Manka Kura radio program and Sweden & Norway because of IYMS.
-
- Started Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/moj.photo, created separated Instagram profile for photography; https://www.instagram.com/moj.photo. And the response I am getting from those platforms is encouraging. I am inspired to push myself harder and find the better version of myself.
-
- Got selected as Official Photographer/Social media manager of IYMS-2017. Also, IYMS won the Kind Causes online voting competition and I was a part of it.
-
- Started doing wedding photography. It was during the end of the year 2017 when I did the first wedding shoot. And it went quite good. I’m sure I could have done way better. But surely doing the next time. 🙂
- Spiritually, I was going good in the first half of the year. Instincts were getting better and stronger! However, with the degrading health, spirituality was left behind. It could have been way better but it didn’t.
Stories of rejection!
Besides the stories of progress and happiness, there were few instances in which I got rejected. Some of the major ones in which I got rejected were World Nomads travel writing scholarship which is going to be in Myanmar, 2018, SRHR TOT held in December 2017 in Thailand.
